58th Sabot Nationals

Communication to all Sailors and Intending Competitors
Notice #1
15 October 2021

Lake Macquarie City Council 58th Sabot National Titles & Paul Stivano Sabot Week
Teralba Amateur Sailing Club, Lake Macquarie, NSW, Australia.

ANSC in conjunction with the Northern NSW Zone are monitoring the Covid 19 situation for the
scheduled Nationals event dates of 27 December 2021 – 3 January 2022.

It’s pleasing to see the host state (NSW) health orders and guidelines will allow the Nationals to
proceed at Teralba for the scheduled Nationals dates. There are plenty of accommodation options
currently available in the nearby suburbs to Teralba and most of these offer a free cancellation
policy right up to a few days before. We strongly encourage any sailors planning on attending to
book their accommodation as these options will reduce as we head towards Xmas.

Whilst the positive signs in NSW (and Tasmania) are great, it is the unknown timing of the
Queensland Premier determining it safe to open the Queensland border which is delaying our
decision making. We are waiting on some clear signals that the Queensland border will be open
prior to 27 December 2021 for the event to continue as scheduled.

In parallel, ANSC is currently proposing Constitution changes, which have been distributed to the
Zones for voting, for simplified rescheduling arrangements of the Nationals, if required.
ANSC aim to make a decision as soon as possible. We will be meeting again in 2 weeks’ time
owing to the fluid nature of the situation and will issue an update following that meeting.
